Below is a list of people in the Chequamegon Bay area who are requesting funds. If you are in a position to give, please use the information below to send cash directly to community members in need. If you are in need of cash, please fill out this form to be added to the list. Our hope it to eventually set up a community fund that people can access, but in the meantime we hope this is the best way to get money directly to those who most need it.
This resource is specifically for individuals to request and receive cash directly. It is not vetted and not tax-deductible, rather it is based on the mutual aid ethos of putting trust in the community. Trusting people who request the funds and trusting that there are people in the community who will be willing to give to someone they might now know. In response to COVID-19, mutual aid groups all over the world have created similar procedures so that individuals who need funds can request them immediately and (hopefully) receive them. While there is always a chance that someone will misuse the system, the greater risk is that someone who needs funds will not be able to access them and thus go without having their basic needs met. That said, if you are more comfortable giving in a more formal way, CORE, BRICK Ministries, Faith in Action, Meals on Wheels, Hearts to End Hunger, the New Day Shelter, and the local tribal communities (Bad River and Red Cliff) are all doing great work to support folks in the community.
