COMMUNITY COLLABORATION FOR MUTUAL AID

About Us

We formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, though the work of mutual aid will be ongoing. Times that are potentially scary require us to better support one another. In the same way that we bring casseroles to grieving families and baby clothes to celebrate newborns, we can come together as a community to help each other through this difficult time. An essential part of stopping the spread of COVID-19 from overwhelming our hospital systems is voluntary self-isolation. However, isolation can be difficult without the support of your neighbors. Thank you for being here with us! We are grateful that the communities of the Chequamegon Bay continue to come together in times of crisis.

Misson

This care network is a way to connect volunteers and organizations with people in need throughout Ashland, Washburn, Bayfield, Bad River Marengo, Mellen, Red Cliff, Herbster, Cornucopia, and Port Wing. We are working in tandem with CORE Community Resources in Bayfield to coordinate volunteers and support requests.

Support Request

We will do our best to connect you with a volunteer to meet your need. Our volunteers can currently provide delivery assistance (pick-up and delivery of groceries, medications, mail, etc.), social support (e.g., friendly phone conversations), pet care (pet sit/dog walk), technology assistance, and homework help.

Financial Solidarity

This resource is a list of people in the Chequamegon Bay area who are requesting funds.

If you are in a position to give, please use the information on this page to send cash directly to community members in need. If you are in need of cash, please fill out this form to be added to the list. We believe this is the best way to get money directly to those who most need it. It is based on the mutual aid ethos of putting trust in the community.

Chequamegon Bay Mask Makers

The goal of the Chequamegon Bay Mask Makers has been to recruit, organize and facilitate the production of appropriately designed face masks for supplemental use in Chequamegon Bay Healthcare facilities and Essential Businesses in the area.

Our initial goal was to produce 3000 masks. As of 5/21/20 we have produced over 6000 with the help of over 60 sewers!

The core organizing group has now decided to come to a halt with our active mask making. The area needs are decreasing and our sewers are moving into their gardens. Should there be an uptake in the need in the coming months we will reassess. Please see the update below for more information.

We will leave the mask information on this page for ongoing information on the use and sewing of masks.
